At the beginning of the month, we invited you to pay kindness forward with us by completing good deeds to earn your loved ones a gift set.
Not only do good deeds have positive repercussions on your community and the planet, but Mental Health America even reports that “Research indicates that those who consistently help other people experience less depression, greater calm, fewer pains and better health. They may even live longer.”
Here are some of our favorite entries:
DONATING TO CHARITY
@hellojiff donated to a Goodwill center, helping someone to find a job, strengthening their community and helping to preserve the planet.
Goodwill explain that “When you donate your new and gently used items, local Goodwill organizations sell them in stores or on shopgoodwill.com and use the revenue generated to provide valuable employment training and job placement services for people in your community.”
@embrjewelry offered their time and jewelry-making skills on a neighbourhood Facebook page, and as a result repaired four sentimental pieces free of charge.
If you are in a position where you can offer time, resources or skills to someone else, it can really mean a lot and make a big difference to someone’s life.
Thank you to all who took part, and hope that we’ve taught that a small act of kindness contributes towards making the world a better place while improving your mental health.
Remember that good deeds can increase your happiness, make you feel connected, give you a sense of purpose and decrease the harmful effects of stress; kindness is the supplement we all truly need.
