How it works
Spending time near water and marine environments is proven to be beneficial for our mental wellbeing, stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress and helping to bring a feeling of calm. WATER THERAPY is created with olfactory technology to replicate the relaxing sensory feeling of being in or around water. Inspired by the concept of blue medicine, defined as the calm state of mind caused by being close to water, whether swimming, taking a coastal walk or looking out at a lake. When you can’t get outside to be near water, spray WATER THERAPY onto pulse points and take a deep breath to feel a wave of relaxation.
There’s a reason being near water is scientifically proven to be good for our mental health. The sight, sound and feeling of water produce a flood of neurochemicals, stimulating ‘alpha’ brain waves and increasing blood flow to the brain and heart, bringing our bodies into a more relaxed, meditative state. WATER THERAPY has been created to stimulate a similar effect in the body, via the olfactory system. Scent is the fastest way to change our mindset. Of the 5 senses, scent is the only 1 with a direct line to 3 of the most important areas of the brain: the orbitofrontal cortex, which signifies awareness; the hippocampus, which is linked to memory; and the amygdala, which helps us sort smells and is directly associated with our emotions and mood.

The nose has around 450 olfactory receptors responsible for detecting scent. It sends a signal to the brain to decode, which first arrives at the olfactory bulb.
This information is passed on to the limbic system, structures in the brain scientists believe contribute to controlling mood and behavior.

BODY
The brain is responsible for our thoughts, emotions, memories, and movement of the entire body. It’s connected to every aspect of our daily lives, putting further emphasis on the importance of looking after both our mental and physical wellbeing. For moments when we need a moment of relaxation, WATER THERAPY is inspired by the concept of blue medicine, the belief that water has the power to enhance our mental health and wellbeing. It’s formulated with marine notes of seaweed and salt, plus grounding scents sandalwood and cardamom, blending together to replicate the sensory feeling of being in and around water, through patented olfactory technology. Bringing a much-needed moment of calm through the power of scent.
PEOPLE
Key scent notes in WATER THERAPY have been sourced ethically and sustainably through global community projects. Our sandalwood oil is sourced in Australia as part of a sustainable program, ensuring environmental renewal and year-round employment for local workers. The vetiver extract is grown in sand, on a closed-loop irrigation system to ensure the crops grow all year round. This provides a full-time local income stream outside of the usual 2-3 months a year when the crop is in season. 1% of each sale is donated to charity: water, providing safe drinking water to communities around the world through 1% for the Planet.
PLANET
Every ingredient in WATER THERAPY has been sourced with sustainability in mind. Key scent note cardamom oil is responsibly sourced in India, providing employment and income for local communities. Crops are harvested between September to November to ensure a waste-free process, and the discarded shells are upcycled for flavour production. The bergamot oil is extracted by utilising the entire fruit, rather than just the peel, via a unique cold-extraction processing technique to ensure zero waste. Plus, our fragrance bottle is housed in infinitely recyclable glass.
FAQs
In our consumer trials, 30 minutes after using WATER THERAPY, 94% felt less stressed, and 84% felt their anxiety levels were reduced.
WATER THERAPY uses a combination of sustainability sourced natural extracts and steam-distilled essential oils, alongside safe synthetic extracts. It's not possible for us to create a 100% natural fragrance whilst being environmentally and socially responsible. Many of the extracts in fragrance are rare and hard to source in a sustainable manner, so in these instances we use “natural identical” extracts. The key extracts in the formula, including sandalwood oil, are sourced from sustainable community projects. The formula is non-toxic and free from parabens, phthalates, hexanes, nitromusks and polycyclic musks.
We describe it as fresh, light, clean and oceanic. The key notes in this relaxing scent are sandalwood, seaweed, clary sage and salt, inspired by marine environments like fresh sea air.
