Our founding principle is to create supplements that do not harm people or the planet. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, because we see health as one interconnected ecosystem. OUR HEALTH IS CONNECTED TO THE HEALTH OF THE PLANET

Sustainability is no longer a choice. Positive change starts with us.

We’re working towards becoming net positive, actively putting in processes to ensure we not only reduce our carbon footprint, but contribute to positively impacting the planet. Because we believe it’s our responsibility to protect it for future generations. As a Climate Positive Business, we choose to operate in a way that respects the environment. Working with infinitely recyclable materials for our packaging, sourcing ingredients through global community organisations for traceability, and continuing to offset our carbon emissions.

Our Packaging

We only use materials above industry standard. Currently, 95% of our packaging is infinitely recyclable. We’re working on the other 5% (which you can send back to us as part of our internal recycling program).

Glass Jars

We use infinitely recyclable glass for our supplement jars and bottles, printed with non-toxic ceramic ink to protect production line workers.

Refill Pouches

For repeat orders, our refill pouches cut the average packaging weight by 75%, significantly reducing our carbon footprint when shipping.

Product Boxes

30% post-consumer recycled paper is used to build our boxes. The surface isn’t smooth or shiny because we don’t laminate them - which means they can be easily recycled again.

Shipper Boxes

Our cardboard boxes are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved, ensuring sustainable production.

OUR COMMITMENT TO THE PLANET

It’s our responsibility to leave the planet in a better place for future generations.

We are a Climate Positive, plastic neutral business, with B Corp certification pending. In 2020 we emitted 258.44t Total CO₂e, 93% of which were Scope 3 indirect emissions caused by an increase in air freight. We are working to halve these emissions by 2022, and halve them again in 2023. We continue to work with service providers who are actively reducing their environmental impact and carbon footprint.

To tackle the impact of carbon dioxide on our atmosphere and the pending climate crisis, there is not a ‘one size fits all’ solution. So, we have committed to 3 regeneration projects.

01

REDD+ Brazil Nut Concessions

Rainforest conservation in the Peruvian Amazon.

This project aims to reduce deforestation and reduce millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere (so far, approximately 64’668,764 tCO2e has been secured and stored as carbon within the trees and soil). Without this project, it’s estimated that deforestation would have destroyed 34% of the area by 2040.

02

Mangrove Planting

Reforestation and supporting communities in Madagascar.

Mangroves are so important to our planet. They sequester carbon emissions to slow climate change, provide storm surge protection and a natural habitat for wildlife. Since 2007, this project has already planted over 300 million trees, and created over 3 million workdays for local communities.

03

Mai Ndombe Forest Protection

Reducing forest and biodiversity loss in the Congo.

Found in the heart of the DRC in the Congo Basin, this project reduces forest and biodiversity loss while also supporting the local community through vital investments into the area. Since 2011, 300,000 hectares of vital bonobo and forest elephant habitats have been protected, as well as some of the most important wetlands in the world.

Our Sustainable Ecosystem Plan

Our mission is to create a better planet for future generations. Here’s how we’re planning to do that.

Our Plan How We'll Measure Net Impact
01 Reduce Scope 3 emissions. Reduce scope 3 emissions by over 65% of 2021 levels, to 90.3 tonnes of CO2. Creating long-term carbon sequestering programs with approved partners.
02 Minimum 50% of ingredients from organic, community focused or local initiatives. Creating a public sourcing matrix factoring in ingredient provenance, organic status and ethical impact. Actively improve the lives in communities where we source thorough direct sourcing, and support social sustainability, soil health and ingredient transparency.
03 Using renewable energy and good business practices for climate action. Ensure 100% of our primary manufacturing partners run on renewable energy, and by 2025 aim for 20% of partners to working towards B Corps status. Work with manufacturers who have clear sequestering and offsetting programs of their own.
04 Remove all virgin or single use plastic from our entire supply chain. Work with RePurpose Global to measure and offset any plastic usage with approved partners. Roll out updated packaging in 2023. Regardless of our long-term plastic status (aiming for zero content) we will collect and recycle plastic waste for every product sold.
