How it works
Our skin is naturally slightly acidic, and with most foaming shampoos leaning more towards an alkaline pH, this can disrupt the scalp microbiome. Apple cider vinegar in SUPA_THICK SHAMPOO lowers the pH level and adds shine to hair. Sugar beet-derived amino acids in SUPA_THICK CONDITIONER support the scalp by protecting the skin barrier and reducing TEWL (transepidermal water loss).
SUPA_THICK SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER are both formulated with ingredients that bond to the hair structure, reducing breakage, friction and damage. Humectant vitamin B5 (panthenol) attracts moisture to hair, improving the hydration levels, elasticity and strength of each individual strand.
Keratin is a structural protein found in hair. Science-backed ingredients in SUPA_THICK SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER are formulated to penetrate the hair cortex to create new hydrogen and ionic bonds. Sounds complicated, but this means they are able to reach and restore the keratin inside the hair structure, which keeps each strand strong and healthy.
Our scalp creates sebum oil to coat each individual hair, adding moisture and a protective barrier. To build strength and elasticity, we added oat oil to SUPA_THICK SHAMPOO, full of vitamin E, linoleic and oleic acid (omega-9), the latter of which is naturally found in sebum. Velvet flower seed in SUPA_THICK CONDITIONER penetrates each hair cortex, proven in trials to increase the diameter of individual fibres by 11.3% for fuller, healthier hair.

SUPA_THICK SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER both come in a bottle made with 30% PCR plastic (post-consumer recycled plastic), and can go on to be recycled again. We recommend removing the pump prior to recycling - this currently isn’t able to be recycled in household waste streams - but can be sent back to us and recycled in-house.

Rather than using SLS or SLES, which not only strip the hair of natural oils but also disrupt the scalp microbiome, we use a gentle blend of Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate. All of these SLS-free and low-foam ingredients are derived from coconut.
There is no definition for ‘clean’, so we have created our own criteria which we call Clean Clinical. We have an extensive list of ingredients that you’ll never see in our formulas, some of them may impact our health long term, some can cause environmental damage and some can impact the health of our microbiome. Our formulas are designed to deliver results, without causing damage to people or the planet – and for us that means using a combination of naturally derived ingredients alongside cutting edge lab-made ingredients. Washing your hair every 2-3 days (or less) is ideal. Going a little longer between washes allows your natural oils to rebalance and nourish the hair and scalp, as well as allowing your scalp microbiome to flourish. A healthy scalp means healthy hair.
No, neither SUPA_THICK SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER contain any synthetic fragrance, only naturally derived essential oils. Due to labeling regulations we have to use the word ‘parfum’ as a catch-all for any fragrance in a formula.
Yes, the formula is designed to support hair and scalp health which results in thicker, fuller and stronger hair. The formulas have been developed to work for all hair types and ethnicities, focusing on the unique structure of the hair follicle. Caucasian hair tends to have an oval shaped follicle, with a straight-to-curly hair type. Asian hair tends to have round-to-slightly-oval follicles, with a straight-to-wavy hair type. African hair tends to have oval-to-elliptical follicles, with a curly-to-coiled hair type. By focusing on scalp health, using ingredients which penetrate the hair cortex and bind to damaged surface areas, the formulas will nourish and repair without adding weight or product deposits to the hair.
